Paulette Melanson
Paulette Melanson is an abstract painter living in Lunenburg. She was born and raised in the Acadian village of Scoudouc, New Brunswick and moved to Nova Scotia in 1985. She has taken courses at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and at the Montreal Visual Arts Centre where she painted under the guidance of Harold Klunder.
Paulette describes her process as an unconscious exploration of materials that eventually emerges into personal themes. Throughout the process she remains completely detached from the outcome until she finds meaning in the layers of paint. “I am interested in creating work that is honest and reflects my beliefs, values and principles”.
Paulette has had numerous solo shows. Public collections: the Canadian Embassy in Paris, France and the Nova Scotia Art Bank. Private collections: Canada, USA, UK, Denmark and Taiwan.
