Mary Morey
Mary Morey is a local artist with backgrounds in plant ecology and medical illustration. She has drawn, painted, and studied art since she was a young child. The subject of her work is influenced by her previous careers as well as her current world of raising a family and homesteading surrounded by gardens, animals, and forest. Mary strives for loose impressionism, movement, and accuracy in her work. Her strength lies in capturing the character of the subject, especially in portraiture of people or animals.
Mary's work is in private collections across Canada, the United States, and in Germany, and can be viewed at Gallery on Lincoln in Lunenburg, Village Glass Works in New Germany, at the LaHave Craft Cooperative in LaHave, on Instagram @marymoreyart, and on her Facebook page (Mary Sims-Morey).
Mary lives, paints, and farms in Lunenburg County Nova Scotia.
