Katy Maria Shimp
Katy Maria Shimp’s work and research in language acquisition focuses on arts-based learning and its healing benefits within crisis contexts. She views art as a means of communication when words reach their limit.
Her multi-media approach seeks to understand the layered human experience from pain to joy to grief, inspired by words, scenes, and colours. Her ultimate goal is to bring to the viewer a sense of peace and belonging. She and her husband, David Shimp, have an Instagram page where they share current projects and their plein air painting expeditions. They live in Rose Bay, Nova Scotia.
