David Shimp
Whether sketching, carving, or painting — both in the studio and outdoors — David sees art as finding beauty in life’s varied seasons, being open to wonder, and staying curious about the stories around us in the landscape and in people.
His work as an illustrator and love of nature led him to discover the joy of oil painting by going outdoors with paintbox and brushes. There is as much adventure, story, and miraculous beauty to be found in a tree’s bark as in a dramatic sunset. Life is a series of ordinary miracles happening all around us. He and his wife, Katy, live and work in Rose Bay, Nova Scotia.
